This was a "test" movie for me. It was an animated movie regarding a fairly serious topic and done in a style that I've never really viewed before. Plus it was a foreign film. It passed with flying colors.
The story was amazingly interesting and gripping concerning the growth of a little girl into a woman in Iran and abroad during the great struggles that country has gone through. It did a wonderful job reminding me that Iranians are human beings with hearts and souls and rebellious streaks just like us. There is no difference except for the geographical difference and who is telling us what is right and wrong.
This movie isn't for kids. It's not due to any actual sexual content or portrayed violence, all though that is definitely implied beautifully and sadly throughout the film. There is some language throughout it, but what should you expect when you're viewing a bitterly realistic film about the struggle of coming of age in an environment as unforgiving as Iran was and is to young women.
I definitely, definitely definitely recommend that you watch this movie as it will change you and for the better I hope.
